Used as a developmental experience for me, this study piece represents a challenge I set myself: to only use a singular black oil-based pencil. The intention was to learn how to explore the flexibility of contrast, and to see how this exploration would unfold into completion. As a result, this piece came out beautifully and showed me that I really shouldn’t keep buying so many pencils!
